CARVEN Broderie Anglaise Cotton Dress

So I am kind of obsessed with this Broderie Anglaise dress from Carven.  While I am never going to spend $890 for a cotton dress that really only seems fitting for walking around the city/park or going to brunch in the summer, there's something about it I just love.

It looks like it has great movement, is different, and is just fun! I imagine it would be really comfortable to wear as well!

Oh well, $890 on a casual, summer dress is just not in my budget! Perhaps if I win the lotto and have unlimited funds I'll be able to pair this dress with cute sandals and a white fedora (I don't know why, just seems like I'd work to me) and wear it to brunch one day.

What do you think of the dress? Would you spend $890 on something so casual?

The Curved Heel

Fashion is all about reinvention.  Coming up with something new and making your mark on the world.  When I was younger, I dreamed of being a fashion designer and often thought about how could I invent a new look and add something new to what had been done so many times.  (Different hemlines and angles has been done, heels have been chunky, stiletto, and everything in between!) Fashion may be about reinvention, but also with fashion, everything old is new.  So how can anything be truly new? While I'll keep my idea for creating the new heel a bit close to the vest, it appears that for the Spring/Summer 2014 we will be getting a new heel--the curved heel!

I've got to say that I love the look, but am not sure about the practicality or how easy it will be to walk in a curved heel.  Below are some curved heels that I love.

The Spiked Pump

Vince Camuto dark silver spiked 'Madelyn' glitter platform pumps

So what are your thoughts on spiked pumps? Personally, it is a trend that has been around for awhile now that I am not a huge fan of.  The trend seems to have been started by Christian Louboutin as there are various Louboutin spiked heels and there is even a cottage industry on eBay of people who will "spike" your Louboutins for you--although why you would trust anyone to make alterations to your Louboutins is beyond me!  I will say that I am a huge Louboutin fan, but not a spiked pump fan.  That being said, if you're into the spiked pumps trend and don't want to cough up the cash for Louboutins, these silver spiked heels by Vince Camuto are a great way to get the trend at a reasonable cost.  They're $139 and available on Bluefly.

Paulina Pumps by Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin 100mm Paulina shoes $604 at Matches

So, like many women, I love Christian Louboutins. Unfortunately, having a closet full of them is a little out of my price range, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate them--and add a few to my closet. I love these Paulina pumps that are exclusive to Matches.com. They actually remind me a bit of a Manolo Blahnik pumps in their style and structure. I like the incorporation of the pink with the more classic nude and black. I am all about incorporating color with neutrals and these are a great fashionable pair of shoes that can go with a suit, dress, or jeans. Perfect for work and casual. One part of the shoes that I'm not sure I'm a fan of is that the pink appears to be transparent and perhaps made of plastic. While I have the utmost confidence in Christian Louboutin, this could come a cross a bit cheap looking--and who wants to spend over $600 on shoes and have them look cheap? I think the only way to truely evaluate them and see how the pink looks is to see them in person. Would you buy these Paulina pumps?

Great Spring Pumps

As winter slowly disappears, the spring fashions are popping up in stores and online. Soon we will get to trade in heavy sweaters for sundresses and incorporatee brighter colors to our color palette. These snake embossed leather pumps from Cole Haan in mint green are a perfect pop of color for spring. I think they are a perfect addition to a classic black dress. They are on trend and a unique color while remaining work appropriate. It is definitely a great way to add flare to an otherwise boring work ensemble. What do you think? Do you like these Cole Haan pumps?

Dream Birkin Bag

I think every "fashionista's" dream is to own a Birkin bag.  It is the holy grail of fashion.  Unfortunately, Birkin bags are expensive and hard to get.  If I were to ask for a dream Birkin, it would be this Rose Scheherazade Porosus Crocodile 35cm Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware that is available at Portero right now for the "low, low" price of $93,999.  So unless I win Megamillions or Powerball, I don't think I'll be buying this bag anytime soon.  But it's fun for a girl to dream right?

As you will probably be able to guess,  I am a big fan of the peplum and love this rose dust peplum dress from bebe.  At $179, it's definitely a pricier option over the Kohl's dress I already featured.  But this dress is absolutely stunning and perfect.  If you can afford it, I suggest you get it!
